Together with my project group, Marin and the city of Wageningen, we designed a new power supply, drivetrain and docking station for the ferry at the Lexkesveer at Wageningen. I learned a lot by working together with the people from Marin because of their incredible knowledge of water and ships. We ended up creating the design for a Ferry that was completely electric and also way more efficient by using an electric winch system instead of the usual propellors. We also designed a docking station that keeps the ferry attached to land. The ferry is powered by an electric cable attached from land. The electric cable is rolled onto the boat by a reel when it comes closer to the bank. Overall this was a different project that took me out of my comfort-zone and improved my creative problem solving skills.
